Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate, Asia Schmidt, Releases Memoir of her Battle with Depression

Raleigh, NC – [PR Buzz] May 12, 2017 – Author Asia Schmidt has announced the release of her new memoir, “Cry. Exhale.Heal: A Journey to Inner Healing.” A licensed clinical addiction specialist associate, certified journal therapist and certified belief therapist, Schmidt chronicles her own battle with depression and journey of healing.

“Unfortunately, the downfall with always appearing strong is you give no signals you need support,” said Schmidt. “It’s like being at the beach and struggling against the waves. The lifeguard sees you and assumes you are alright and doesn’t leave his post to save you. As a result, you end up drowning because you gave the impression you didn’t need any help.”

Schmidt’s book is more than a memoir, it’s a self-help book for others suffering with depression. It candidly details the pain, suppressed emotions and untreated inner wounds that resulted in depression, even as she arrived in Germany for a positive, life-changing opportunity. She sought help after four months of suffering in silence, but like most people with depression, she didn’t want to appear weak.

One of the major barriers to health and healing for those with depression is the stigma associated with any type of mental health concern, particularly in the black community. Her book sheds light on the outdated and distorted perceptions of strength and weakness that prevents many individuals from seeking the help and healing that’s available.

The author explores the many ways in which people with depression attempt to ease their pain through self-medication with drugs, alcohol and comfort eating. For Schmidt, therapeutic journaling was a key that helped free her from a life filled with misery.

Schmidt shares entries from her personal diary to connect with readers and show them that they’re not alone in their experiences. She also includes comprehensive journal prompts for readers to help manage depression through therapeutic journaling that can also be used in group situations.

Depression is an insidious disease that robs people of their zest for life. It produces feelings of low self-esteem and sadness resulting in sleep disturbances, poor concentration and low energy levels that further exacerbates the condition. Statistics show that more than 40 million adults in the U.S. alone are depressed, don’t seek help, and are suffering in silence.

Available in a paperback and Kindle edition, “Cry. Exhale. Heal: A Journey to Inner Healing” is a story of motivation, inspiration and hope for anyone suffering with depression. Schmidt’s memoir explores the many facets of depression through her own experiences and provides a path of enlightenment for those who are suffering in silence.

Free Online Seminar to Ease Emotional Pain during the Holidays

For many people, the holiday season is a tough time emotionally due to grief, divorce or other loss. As a solution, Born to Triumph® announces a complimentary downloadable online seminar called "Holidays, Heartache, and Healing," designed to help people cope with their roller-coaster feelings, and gain a clearer understanding about how to transition out of grief and rebuild their lives.

Created by Born to Triumph's CEO, Evelyn Roberts Brooks, a certified personal development coach trained by both Bob Proctor ("The Secret") and Mary Morrissey ("The Moses Code"), this one-hour coaching seminar is available to download or listen to online at no charge.

"It can feel painful to witness others bustling around with decorating, shopping, and party planning," Brooks explains. "Anyone who is struggling to cope with loss or bereavement can feel burdened by even more sadness when they feel pressured to participate in holiday festivities without first doing the necessary healing of their emotional wounds."

Brooks points out that there are many roads to grief, including divorce, bereavement, loneliness, pet loss, retirement, empty nest syndrome, and other major lifestyle events or downturns. But no matter what the cause of suffering is, a simple decision to start feeling better will allow positive change to begin.

"Far too many people stay stuck and floundering in their grief," Brooks says. "The contrast of the holidays with all the memories of happier times that it evokes can make this time of year especially difficult for those overcoming loss. I help people rebuild their lives after divorce and other grief, to experience joy, harmony and balance once again. A good starting point is to download the free seminar I created to show people how to handle their painful feelings during the holiday season."

The "Holidays, Heartache, and Healing" seminar is available at no charge, and includes a discount offer for Brooks' "Your Grief Relief" online coaching program for 12 weeks. More information and instant access to the complimentary seminar is at http://evelynbrooks.com/?p=5722
